Virtual Therapy

Dr. Hansen has been providing Virtual Therapy for 5 years- even pre-covid! It’s a good solution for busy people, or those who need additional privacy.

At this time, she is licensed to offer this service in Florida and Minnesota.

What is virtual therapy?

It is a prescheduled session (just like you schedule an in person session) for 45-50 minutes where you video chat on a secure, HIPAA compliant platform with Dr. Hansen.  It is just like a therapy session where you go to her office, but you are not in her office. She maintains the same confidentiality in a teletherapy session as she does an in-person session.

 What are the benefits?

  • Higher level of confidentiality

  • More flexibility in scheduling for you as you do not have to consider commute time

  • Ability to receive services if you cannot travel to her office

  • Can do joint session with someone not local (ie co-parents who live in different parts of the state)

What do I need to know before I do a session?

It is important that you are in a confidential, private location.  No one is allowed in the room with you (i.e. don't be in a coffee shop during your session).  Make sure you know how to use zoom and your video camera and microphone are working.

You will need to have a working computer or tablet device. High speed internet is recommended. We recommend conducting your session on a private personal password-protected network for your confidentiality.

Can I go ahead and schedule a virtual therapy session?

You must email or talk to Dr. Hansen first.  Dr. Hansen prefers to meet all clients first to establish the doctor/patient relationship before treatment begins.
